POETRY PERFORMERS

Rojin Namer (born 2002 in Damascus) is a Syrian-Kurdish poet and student based in Berlin, best known for her moving work with “The poetry Project”. Her writing frequently explores themes of loss, memory and language. Namer’s poetry has evolved from reflecting on her flight from Syria to a sharp, modern critique of identity and belonging in Europe. Namer describes her writing as a “silent resistance against forgetting”, a way to ensure she does not “completely fade away” in a foreign land.

Ibrahim (he/they) is a trans SWANA writer and poet, and is an active community member in Berlin’s Queer Arab* Collective with an experience in leading QTI*BIPoC creative writing circles.

Yehya is an artist with a background in creative writing, wood sculpture carving, and farming.

Sherin Striewe is an educator, community organizer, DJ, and spoken word artist whose poetry centers intersectional justice, identity, and belonging. Their texts have been published in different magazines like Karussell or Texte nach Hanau. Alongside their artistic work, Sherin creates spaces for queer BIPoC FLINTA* communities, including founding the event series CCBB and Rage’N’Bounce.

Matagumpay is a visual artist, writer, and performer making work about devotion and transition. He is the puzzler behind M’s Puzzle, the monthly crossword with Berlin-specific, queer-feminist and anti-imperialist clues. He is trans and Filipino raised in the US.
